The past few weeks in Germany have been cold. Not the cold that you can escape either. It’s the cold that seems to sink into your bones and never really leave no matter how high you crank the heat or how many layers you don. The one cool thing about that kind of cold is that it can make fore once-in-a-lifetime experiences. In Hamburg there are two lakes (or bodies of water because I’m not actually sure if they’re lakes) and because it was colder than tarnation outside the lakes froze. The ice was thick enough to walk on or skate on if you happen to have some coordination. I’m so glad I made the trip because it was quite an unreal experience. I’m going to take some photos of the alster in April just so I can compare the two, but for now check out the photos below!

S-Bahn art!

On the ice! If you ever get the chance to walk on ice, I say take it, but wear shoes that are warmer than Converse.

The next day I took a trip to Lübeck. Photos from that trip coming soon!
